Sausage Potatoes Peppers and Onions Skillet

There are mornings when you don’t know what you will eat. But your food should be soulful, delicious, rich, and healthy. Well, I go easy in the morning, and I’m good when I have sausage potatoes peppers, and onions. Take a ride to see how I make this great meal option.

The good thing is that it’s easier to make the meal but more than that it’s always delicious. This is a one-skillet meal and comfort food for me, especially on those easy weekends. Anyone who likes sausage and peppers will enjoy this meal.

For those days when you don’t want to do lots of clean-up or spend too much time in the kitchen. I would gladly say this is my favorite meal for the weekend, but then it’s this one amongst the many I will share.

Life is moving fast, and we are aligned to quick fixes today. We want a meal that cooks quickly and takes a short time to prepare. Sometimes, you want to rest a few hours before going to another gig. Well, this is the meal you should make if time is of the essence to you.

This is for those who dislike spending so much time in the kitchen. The best part is that when it comes to cleaning up, you won’t have to spend so much time on it. You only need to clean the tools you used for preparation and then a single skillet.

I like to tell my sister, who is “Not a fan of cooking and cleaning,” to try this easy but delicious recipe. You won’t have to clean a lot after cooking.

Delicious and flavorful

Remember you are blending in the different veggies, meats, and spices. I’m sure you are trying the recipe will make you understand why I say it’s a very rich recipe.

You mostly already have the ingredients.

If you are anything like me, you already know that potatoes are a must-have in my pantry. Other than potatoes, you mostly have sausages, onions, and peppers.

You can use the different sausages, even the spiced ones, for a richer flavor. However, I used Farmer’s beef sausage choice because they are rich.

It’s versatile

You can use it for brunch, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. With simple additions, you will have it being the best meal. It’s also one of the best meals you can make at any given time.

It’s easy

The best part is that it’s easier to make the meal even though, looking at it, you would think it took a lot of time. If you like such tricks, this is for you. But if you are obsessed with potatoes, this will be another way to make it.

Ingredients

  • A pound of sausages ( any sausage, but I use farmer’s choice for its rich flavor)
  • A pound of Irish potatoes
  • one large Onion
  • one large Bell pepper
  • Butter or olive oil. I like the butter flavor. It gives it the perfect creamy flavor.
  • Thyme
  • Garlic
  • Cayenne and other spices of your choice.

Method

Begin by first peeling the potatoes, onions, and garlic.

Slice the onions and then slice the potatoes not thick slices but not thin, just medium.

Next, oven grill the sausage or pan fry them; once ready, you can slice them into medium-thick pieces. If you have peppers, you can cut them too because not only does it adds color, and it adds flavor too.

Let’s start the preparation.

Set your skillet on the gas stove, and then add the butter. Remember to add a little bit of olive oil to prevent the butter from burning.

Set the potato slices on the pan, and arrange the pieces on the skillet. Next, add a teaspoon of thyme, cayenne, nutmeg, or other spices. Also, add salt, then cover it to cook for about 5 minutes.

Add the red onion slices. Just cut a large onion and add more if you like many onions. Cover it to cook the onions for about 2 minutes.

Add the bell peppers and then cover to allow it to cook. Give it about 5 minutes to cook fully. Now toss the mix for a little bit and then cover to cook for 3 minutes.

Finally, add the sausage and cover it to cook a bit more. Toss it once again to get everything mixed.

Cover it to cook more, then serve it with your favorite sauce.

You can eat it with your favorite drink.

What to know

This is one of the best meal choices when you want to do different things. Also, it doesn’t matter if you have never tried it. You are going to love it.

Some people choose to bake it in one pan too, and it’s just as delicious for this recipe, though I decided to use one pan. You can try that if you want to make it even easier.

If there is leftover, you could use it during another meal like dinner, and you will also enjoy it. Know what you would like to eat it with.

It makes the best brunch recipe, especially since it’s nicely filling, and you won’t have to eat it again till later. Additionally, it’s delicious.

Make sure you choose the right skillet for the process. A cast iron one is amazing for this cooking process. You will have the food not sticking onto the pan.

Why do I use butter for cooking it?

If you like to use butter when cooking some of your foods, then this will be a no-brainer. Butter gives the potato dish this subtle, milky, delicious taste. You can also use olive oil, but I wanted the buttery flavor for this recipe.

Can I use bacon?

Of course, you can use bacon if you have it because it will enrich the food even more, but the sausages make it even more filling. So then, you can add the bacon to enhance the flavor.

Can I make it for dinner?

Of course, you can also tune it up to make it into a dinner meal. I like to eat it for brunch, but I won’t mind it for dinner either.

Can I use other spicy or sweetened sausages?

Yes, you can, depending on what you are reaching for. I didn’t use sweet or spicy, but if that’s what you like, use it and balance the spices.
