The greatest thing about such foods is that they will provide the required nutrients using added sugar. Learn to keep off processed foods as they tend to keep you in an unhealthy loop.
3. Say no to beverages and drinks that contain added sugars
When you don’t focus on what you eat, one of the worst places you consume unnecessary sugar is beverages. Whether it’s sodas, alcohol, juices, teas, or coffees, you will still be consuming unnecessary sugar.
Either limit your added sugar intake at first, then keep off completely later or keep off completely. Make sure you aren’t going for the sweetened water and such things. For some people, the hardest ones to leave are the sodas, but I have found that if you take water, you won’t need it.
The juices, too, have added sugars. As such, I make it at home and use the sugary fruits to make it sweet enough then you can keep off the juices.
4. Prepare your meal at home
Going out and buying food can be much easier, especially for those without big families. But mostly, the food they make for you will have additional sugars you may not know. If you are on a health journey, then you should make sure you cook at home.
If you cook at home, you will bypass the additional processed ingredients. Even if you have prepackaged meals, they tend to have added sugar.
Most chefs will always compensate for the additional flavors using sugar. You won’t know they did if you don’t want that.
5. Read the labels
Ware taking a sugar-free, you should start reading the labels because, unfortunately, most of the foods have sugar in them already. Take Milo or Drinking Choco. They have a percentage of sugar that is enough to drink the tea without adding more sugar.
Don’t be mistaken by the low-fat indication, as that will cover the added sugars they use. Remember to read and understand the sugar language. They may call it fructose maltose glucose, and it’s still sugar.
6. Check the sauces and the condiments
Another thing addition of sugar will come to you from the different sauces and the condiments they use. Check the sauce, and if you have extra sugar, you know that you are just not making it right.
Consider using the options of condiments and sauhat you make at home to limit the amount of sugar adddded to your salads.
Do you need sugar substitutes?
For some people this is so hard they have to use sugar substitutes. If you have to, you should consider the options you use. I prefer raw honey at times, of course not every day. If you choose to use these options, ensure you only take them in moderation.
How does a sugar-free diet look like
This diet is free of all forms of sugar except for healthy natural sugars like fruit sugars. It means that you have to do the following if you want to keep off the sugar completely.
I like that it encourages you to go on a wholesome diet. You soon realize that you are helping your body balance itself again. Sugar is sweet, but it causes many imbalances in our lives that we don’t need.
Note that you don’t have to go crazy with this option. You need to be disciplined. Take one step at a time to keep off the sugar completely.
